Tennis Friends of Oak Hills Park

Happy Spring! We hope you are well and looking forward to a new season of tennis!
Successful USTA $23,750 Grant: Thanks to the outstanding work of Chris Hulse, Denise Brown, and Jim Hollyday, our grant application to the USTA for $23,750 was recently approved. This grant will pay for 50% of replacement fencing around courts 1-6.  This project will be completed after the 2024 season ends.

2023 End-of-Year Fundraising Drive: Thanks to John Damberg and Diane Reiter who contributed to our "End of Year" fundraising drive!  We also received an extremely generous, anonymous, donation of $4,000 in January!  The total for our fundraising drive was $5,480.  This will go toward our goals of renovating the fencing around courts 1 - 6, constructing walkways from the patio to the courts with a matching apron around the tennis house, improving seating, and upgrading court brushes.

Oak Hills 60+ Men's FCTL Team:   Oak Hills has a men's 60+ competitive tennis team that competes in the Fairfield County Tennis League (FCTL).  Any man who turns 60 years old by December 31, 2024 is eligible to play and we are especially looking for 4.0+ players.  All 60+ team members must have an Oak Hills unlimited tennis season pass. The FCTL league starts in May and runs through the last week of July.  Matches are generally on Monday evenings, 6pm to 7pm, and with practices on Thursday evenings, from 6pm to 8pm.  We try to play the best players available each week.  If you need more information or are interested in joining the team please contact Rich Dellinger by replying to this email.

Oak Hills Women's Team Tennis:  Oak Hills women participate in the Darien, New Canaan, & Norwalk League.  For more information click on this link.

Tennis & Pickleball on Norwalk's Other Public Courts:  On March 22nd, 2024, the City of Norwalk’s Recreation and Parks Department (NRP) announced the release of a new reservation system for reserving the City’s outdoor pickleball and tennis courts, effective Monday, March 25th. While reservations can be made to guarantee court rentals, it is important to note that reservations are not required to utilize the City’s courts. Players are welcome to enjoy pickleball or tennis without reservations if the courts have not yet been reserved.   In late April, the City of Norwalk will announce the fees associated with reserving the pickleball and tennis courts, after which those fees will go into effect. There is likely to be a charge for residents and non-residents. The Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department has also partnered with X-Factor Tennis Services and Tennis Director Xavier Proulx for World Class Tennis clinics and classes. Click on this link for more information on both programs.  This system does not apply to the tennis courts at Oak Hills.
