 Summer and Fall Updates
for the Tennis Center

May 22 Welcome Back/Fundraising Dinner: We held our 1st fundraising dinner at Smokin’ Aces Restaurant at Oak Hills in May and it was a success! There were about 65 people in attendance and we raised over $5,500 from ticket sales and a silent auction. The dinner’s mission was to bring together the Oak Hills Tennis Friends to kick off the tennis season and to honor the memory of our good friend Arthur Goldblatt.

The money was added to the $22,000 that has been raised during 2021 for a total of $27,500. With these funds donated from so many generous donors, we have been able to complete our first major project of a new stone patio in back of the tennis building and a walkway that runs from the courts to the parking lot. It looks great!
We plan to have a ceremony in October to name our new patio “Arthur’s Court” in memory of Art Goldblatt. Our ceremony will include some food/wine and possibly a guitar player. The Patio was one of the projects Art always talked about – having a place for tennis players to gather, socialize and enjoy the game of tennis.

We have put together a new Fundraising Committee and we will be meeting monthly to help get ideas to enhance our facility, like completing the pathways, a pergola for shade, enhancing the grounds with perennials and possibly new fencing for the courts, are all on the list.

On the agenda for the rest of the summer/fall is our ongoing Drop-in Program on Saturdays and Sunday from 10-12 for doubles. It is a random mix of co-ed doubles and everyone is welcome to participate. The level is 3-4.0. We take the 1st 16 players that arrived and after that we rotate players in and out. This will lead into our Labor Day “Luck of The Draw” Tournament on Monday, September 5, 2022. The fee is $25.00 and will include refreshments/snacks and prizes for winner and runner up teams.
